Holi is a spring festival full of colour, singing and dancing! Although as an ancient religious Hindu festival it is observed particularly in India and Nepal, it is becoming popular with many non-Hindus in South Asia and around the world. And it's not surprising!
¡Holi es un festival de primavera
lleno de color, canto y baile! Aunque como un antiguo festival religioso hindú
se observa particularmente en India y Nepal, se está volviendo popular entre
muchos no hindúes en el sur de Asia y en todo el mundo. ¡Y no es sorprendente!
Celebrations
start with a Holika bonfire on the night before, and people gather to sing and
dance.
Las celebraciones comienzan con
una hoguera de Holika la noche anterior, y la gente se reúne para cantar y
bailar.
On the
morning of Holi the real fun begins. Men and women, boys and girls, one and
all, chase each other around with dry paint or coloured water, in water pistols
or balloons! Can you imagine that? It would be a good idea to wear your old
clothes on Holi!
En la mañana de Holi comienza la
verdadera diversión. Hombres y mujeres, niños y niñas, todos se persiguen con
pintura seca o agua coloreada, ¡en pistolas de agua o globos! ¿Te imaginas?
¡Es una buena idea usar tu ropa vieja en Holi!
There are
parades and music and everywhere is a riot of colour, and colourful people!
¡Hay desfiles y música y en todas
partes hay una gran cantidad de color y gente colorida!
In the
evening people get cleaned up and then go out to visit family and friends and
share Holi delicacies.
Por la noche, la gente se limpia
y luego sale a visitar a familiares y amigos y comparte las delicias de Holi.
The date
of Holi varies every year, sometimes falling in February but most often in
March. Holi was
celebrated last 9th - 10th March 2020.
La fecha de Holi varía cada año,
a veces cae en febrero pero con mayor frecuencia en marzo. Holi se celebró del
9 al 10 de marzo de 2020.
Holi is a
wonderful excuse to use bright colours!
